Arrival Of D.Rose = Championship?

The NBA youngest former MVP, Derrick Rose, had arrived in Cleveland. Let's take a look at what he can contribute to the team.

First of all, let us take a peak at his stats in 2016-2017 season with the NewYork Knicks.
18.0 PPG , 4.4 APG,  FG 47.1% and 3P% 0.217%

This analysis made down here is with the assumption that Kyrie Irving stays in Cleveland.

On the Offensive end:

  • Commander on the court when LBJ and KI are off the court
  • Take control of the pace and game
  • Able to make plays
  • His explosiveness and speed remain a great advantage against the defenders
  • Ability to score & be the 4th scorer on the team

On the Defensive end:

  • Not a good defender

Conclusion:
Overall, I'd give this trade a 6/10 where 5/10 is a pass. D.Rose can definitely add on to the Cavs' firepower but his poor 3 point ability would be a downside since Cavs is a team obsessed with 3 pointers. The main reason why this trade is only a 6 out of 10 is because of his poor defense and he isn't what the Cavs really need now. What Cavs really needs urgently now is a point guard who's able to make some plays, control the tempo and the pace of the game, play good defense and who has a decent 3 point ability. Unfortunately, D. Rose only matches 2 out of the 4 things.

Hence, to make this trade worthwhile, the coaching team will have to come out with more complicated plays and better defensive strategies to make up on the flaws.

So people may wonder that ,with D. Rose on the team now, is Cavs better or able to defeat his greatest enemy, Golden State Warriors. The answer that I'd give is a straight NO. The arrival of Rose isn't much a threat to the GSW.
